Microsoft Windows 11 will be able to load Android apps

This means that users will not be limited to Android apps found on the Amazon App Store as long as they have the APK file.

San Francisco: Microsoft’s Windows 11 may not be limited to the Amazon App Store to install Android apps, as it will be possible to sideload Android apps on Windows 11.

While prominent engineer Miguel de Icaza notes on his Twitter account that he’s not speaking for Microsoft, his response seems like a resounding statement that sideloading Android apps is possible.

This means that users will not be limited to Android apps found on the Amazon app store as long as they have the APK file, Android Central reported.

“Number of apps available”

When Microsoft announced support for Android apps in Windows 11it came with the caveat that apps would be downloaded from the Microsoft Store through the Amazon App Store.

The main concern is the number of apps available, around 500,000 compared to around 3.5 million on the Google Play Store. That leaves out some of the more popular apps like Snapchat, which aren’t available on the Amazon App Store.

Recently, Microsoft said it would have more to say about the Android app experience “in the coming months.”
