Many Windows users are on the verge of losing access to their online cloud storage. Microsoft encourages users to upgrade their devices to the latest software.
With the new upgrade, the OnerDrive app will no longer sync with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 from March 1, 2022. So users are encouraged to upgrade to avoid losing access to important files .

Millions of users are still using Windows 7 and 8 despite their obsolescence, there will soon be a big change as users are now forced to take the plunge.
As of January 1, 2022, Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 will no longer receive updates for the OneDrive app. The goal is to ensure that Microsoft focuses its resources on new technologies and new operating systems.
On March 1, 2022, OneDrive personal desktop apps running on Windows 7.8 and 6.1 operating systems will stop syncing with the cloud.

The change will affect businesses differently, Microsoft’s support for the OneDrive for business desktop app will be aligned with the Windows support lifecycle starting January 1, 2022.
As for Windows 8 and Windows 7, they will continue to have extended support until January 10, 2023. Although support for Windows 8 ended on January 12, 2016. Lack of support means users are no longer receiving important updates that protect their devices from the latest cyber threats.
Users are encouraged to upgrade their devices to Windows 11 or 10 to avoid any of these setbacks. However, it should be noted that many devices running Windows 7 or 8 are not compatible.
Devices may not meet hardware system requirements. Therefore, it is not possible to perform the upgrade.
