Microsoft Windows 11 incompatible with more than 55% of workstations? New study shows negative effects

Microsoft Windows 11 was officially launched across the world on October 5th. It is currently the latest version of the computer system of the giant technology company.

Windows 11 is expected to offer more advanced features, which would make user experiences more enjoyable. If you are planning to upgrade your Windows 10 to its successor, here are the system requirements for your laptop or PC:

• Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with two or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC).
• Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver.
• Storage: 64 GB or more storage device.
• TPM: version 2
• System firmware: UEFI, secure boot compatible.
• RAM: 4 gigabytes (GB).

Meanwhile, a new study has confirmed that more than half of all workstations around the world do not have the requirements mentioned above. For this reason, BetaNews reported that around 55% of workstations are unable to upgrade their software.

Microsoft Windows 11 incompatibility

The new Microsoft Windows 11 study was conducted by an IT company called Lansweeper. The asset management software company explained that workstations that cannot download the latest version of computer software come from businesses and corporations.

“An automatic upgrade is only possible if three critical components of the computer – the processor, RAM and TPM – meet the requirements necessary to perform the upgrade,” the management software company explained. IT assets via its official blog post.

The results acquired by Lansweeper were based on approximately 30 million computers and laptops from approximately 60,000 organizations. The experts involved explained that around 19% of the workstations tested did not pass the RAM test.

On the other hand, 28% of them were not TPM (Trusted Platform Module) compatible. They also claimed that companies unable to install the latest version of Windows 11 system could suffer from security concerns.

Why are incompatible workstations in difficulty?

IT experts at Lansweeper have claimed that if your workstation is unable to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11, then your sensitive data is at risk of massive leaks.

They explained that this could happen since Windows 10 will stop releasing security fixes soon as Microsoft announced that the service will end in 2025.

Although you no longer receive quality updates, the giant tech company has confirmed that Windows 10 will still work until the deadline.
