Microsoft: Windows 11 vastly improves the touch usability of Surface Pro X
At its launch event yesterday, Microsoft briefly discussed some of the new improvements the new Windows operating system brings to touchscreen devices. The company has now uploaded a video from its livestream yesterday detailing these improvements. Features were showcased on Microsoft Surface Pro X.
First, the touch usability of Windows 11 has been greatly improved. For example, when you detach the keyboard from the Surface Pro X to use it in tablet mode, instead of the user interface changing entirely as it would in earlier versions of Windows, the overall interface remains the same and it just becomes more spaced apart, which should make touch interaction easier. Microsoft also says that touch targets have been enlarged and intuitive visual cues have been added to make the whole touch interaction process easier for users.
The pen of the new Surface Pro X also has improvements. For one thing, it now contains haptic feedback to make using the stylus “even more engaging and immersive”. The company has been working on it for a very long time.
Voice recognition during dictation has also been improved, Microsoft explains, as it is now even able to punctuate your sentences automatically. This also implies that the overall accuracy is also better than before.

The next generation of Windows is expected to start rolling out towards the end of this year, so we’ll know more about Windows 11 on Surface devices soon. An Insider build is also expected next week.
