Specifically, Microsoft has confirmed that the new PWA (Progressive Web Apps) feature will arrive in the Windows 10 Microsoft Edge version.

If you have no idea what PWA is, it’s a feature that can turn the websites you usually access into apps. On the other hand, this internal feature can also help your favorite webpages achieve near-native performance on the device.

It just means that websites will be smoother and faster to access. On the other hand, experts also explained that Microsoft’s Progressive Web Apps feature could also work seamlessly on different platforms, such as Android, Linux, iOS, macOS and especially Windows.

Microsoft Edge to turn your websites into apps?

According to the latest report from Fossbytes, Microsoft has already added the ability to download PWAs in Edge Chromium. And now the tech giant has said it is also coming to the regular Microsoft Edge browser.

The new feature was first spotted in Microsoft’s Edge Insider report, indicating that in the first quarter of 2021, the company “will launch PWA instead of a browser with URL links.”

“Starting with Microsoft Edge version 97, you can choose to launch the browser in a PWA rather than the full native browser,” the tech giant added.

Many consumers will surely be excited about this new feature, as it provides a seamless experience. PWAs can do this because they open in a headless browser window and remove options that are not essential when accessing a website.

At the moment, various leaks claim that Microsoft will release the new Windows 10 Edge feature next September. However, you should still bear in mind that the rumored launch schedule is still subject to change since Microsoft is not being released.

On the other hand, the arrival of PWA will also depend on the development efficiency of the company as it still has to test the new functionality to find possible bugs and other software issues.

Other details of PWA

Once the new PWA feature arrives in Microsoft Edge for Windows 10, your PC will provide a new notification. This will display the name of the PWA instead of the actual name of your Microsoft browser.

This means that if you use it, for example, the Facebook backup website will be the name of the Microsoft Edge PWA icon instead of just the name of the search engine. It will save you time in finding the actual website url in the future.
