Windows 11 licenses now available on the Microsoft Store
It took a while, but it’s probably better late than never. Microsoft has quietly added Windows 11 licenses to the Microsoft Store, giving users an easy way to purchase a product key whenever they need it.
As discovered by PCMagthe licenses were most likely released sometime in May, with Microsoft surprisingly not releasing an official announcement in this regard.
This is odd to say the least, mostly because all of this makes it so much easier for users to purchase a license key for the device they are currently using.
Windows 11 Home is available for $139.00, while Windows 11 Pro can be purchased for $199.99. These are typical Windows 11 license prices, although it goes without saying that you can get them much cheaper if you know where to look.
Maybe you want to buy a new Windows 11 PC?
Microsoft makes it clear on the Microsoft Store that these licenses are only available for devices that require a new license for Windows, so you can’t buy it for a Windows 10 device that doesn’t meet the system requirements to upgrade to free. Windows 11.
“This version is designed for PCs that need a new license for Windows and meet the minimum system requirements (for Windows 11. If your PC is running Windows 10 and you are unable to use Windows Update to install free upgrade to Windows 11, you will not be able to install that version of Windows 11,” the company says.
In addition, Microsoft takes this opportunity to recommend users to buy a new computer. In most cases, a new device that comes with Windows 11 pre-installed already includes an operating system license, so you won’t have to purchase it separately from the Microsoft Store. . This option, however, comes in handy for Windows 10 users whose devices cannot be upgraded to the new operating system.
