Windows 365 is getting a new SKU, coming soon to the Microsoft Store
More than a year ago, Microsoft announced Windows 365, a service that allows businesses to securely stream the full Windows experience with the operating system hosted on the Microsoft Cloud. This basically means that employees don’t need any special hardware and can simply enroll in the program to use a personalized Windows experience. Today at its ongoing Ignite 2022 conference, Microsoft announced a bunch of new features for Windows 365 and Windows.
Starting with Windows 365, Microsoft announced a new Windows 365 Government SKU for federal contractors and employees. It enables Windows streaming from the Microsoft Cloud while adhering to security standards established by the US government. Plus, the Windows 365 app is coming to the Microsoft Store so you can download and launch it right from the Start menu on the taskbar. Another preview update is the Citrix HDX Plus add-on for Windows 365. It enables enterprises to support more endpoints, devices, and security policies, especially in bandwidth-constrained environments.
To learn more about Windows on the Cloud, Update Compliance Service reports are moving to Azure Workbooks under a new solution called Windows Update for Business reports. This change is coming next month and should make the overall experience more modular and consistent.
Meanwhile, Test Base for Microsoft 365 is getting two preview features in the form of in-place upgrade support and Microsoft 365 app testing. The former will arrive next month while the latter will arrive premiering later this month. In a similar vein, targeted, contextual, in-product organizational messages – announced a few months ago – controlled by IT administrators will be previewed next month.
Finally, Universal Print also gets two more features. The first is delegated administrative support for localized management, it arrives the first week of November. And second, we have more information available on the print jobs page to debug issues and get pointers to related documentation for diagnosis. This ability will arrive in general availability at the end of this month.
