Two classic Elder Scrolls RPGs are re-released on the Microsoft Store
The release date of star field is still a long way off, only coming in early to mid-2023. For Bethesda fans, some classic titles are returning to PC to hold you over until then.
Xbox announced that Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire and The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguardtwo classic Elder Scrolls titles from over 20 years ago will be coming to the Microsoft Store via Xbox Insiders.
Bethesda will seek player feedback as they work to bring games to the Microsoft Store on Windows in the future. Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire was originally intended to be a The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall expansion, but was turned into its own game.
The interesting feature found in arrow of war and not in any other old scrolls the title was PVP Multiplayer Deathmatches. The game’s story focuses on the player battling the Daedra and venturing into Oblivion. From the official announcement:
The Imperial Battle College has lost contact with the Battlespire, an elite training facility hidden in a pocket realm of Oblivion. An agent sent to investigate discovers that the staff of the Battlespire is dead and the gate to Tamriel is blocked with the facility besieged by vile Daedra, the only way out is to go deep into darkness and into the Daedric realms.
In the same way arrow of warplayers will also get their hands on The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard. This is the only time in the Elder Scrolls series where the player embodies a predetermined character, Cyrus the red guard. red guard had a third-person camera and felt unlike any other Elder Scrolls game released at that time.
ONE MAN AGAINST AN EMPIRE
Tiber Septim has swept through Tamriel, uniting his feuding lands in strength. Even the mighty Redguards of Hammerfell have come under Imperial control. Cyrus, the legendary Redguard mercenary, leads a rebellion against the Empire. With a faction known as the Restless League, Cyrus defeats the occupying forces at Stros M’kai and forces Tiber Septim to make peace with the Redguards.
Players who choose these versions of arrow of war and red guard are encouraged to provide feedback on titles to Bethesda so that the studio can make changes and fixes to the game.
What this means in terms of changes is unclear at this time, but many are hoping, especially fans of red guardthat these changes will fix performance issues and bugs that still exist in the games.
One of the biggest issues with older Elder Scrolls titles is how they perform on newer computers. Many fans noticed that games would crash or not launch fully.
The Elder Scrolls Legends: Battlespire first launched on PC on December 2, 1997, while The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard was released on October 31, 1998.
Earlier this year, Bethesda also reissued arrow of war and red guard on Steam for $5.99 each as well as other classics in the series, the latter for free. I’ve already spent quite a bit of time daggerfall since the game appeared on Steam, and I’m happy to see arrow of war and red guard get more love from Bethesda.
