The new Windows native WhatsApp application is now available on the Microsoft Store
A new WhatsApp the app is here. And it’s any other WhatsApp app: it’s now a native app on Windows. After a series of beta tests, it is now available for download at Microsoft Store. A macOS version of the app, however, is reportedly in development.
The greatest thing about the new standalone WhatsApp app is its ability to respond to accounts using your Windows PC. This means no longer using your phone to maintain the account link and receive and send messages to your contacts. Messages also remain end-to-end encrypted and the overall user interface of the app remains almost the same and familiar to all users.
Since the app is now native to Windows, PC users should have a better experience, especially in terms of speed. However, different reviews in the Store seem to show the opposite of what WhatsApp is aiming for in the Windows version of the app. Some of the common issues faced by users include updating, logging in, launching, etc. With all this, the instant messaging platform may need to consider some urgent app changes and improvements.
On the other hand, although the cross-device feature is already available, we are still waiting for it to be implemented on other portable devices like phones and tablets. Currently, WhatsApp only allows linking computers to a user’s account. And admit it or not, that doesn’t equate to “convenience” for everyone in this modern era where communication still happens through smaller devices.
