Microsoft’s Windows 11 Teams Share button is very cool, but is the Teams integration going too far?
Microsoft introduced a really cool new feature in Windows 11 Preview Build 22499, where users can now quickly and easily share an open app window through Microsoft Teams.
The feature would work through an addition to the app preview pop-up, with Microsoft saying it eliminates the need to switch between apps just to share or reshare a window.
The new functionality joins the recently introduced Teams mute button in the taskbar and, of course, the integration of Teams chat in the taskbar.

Such a level of integration in a product which is quite tangential to Windows 11 should of course sound the alarm, with the movement reminiscent of Microsoft’s construction of Internet Explorer in Windows 98.
Microsoft is already facing an antitrust complaint in the EU regarding the bundle of Office and Microsoft Teams, and it seems likely that the bundle of Windows 11 and Teams will be added to the list soon.
From a user point of view, the new features are of course very interesting, if you are also a Teams user. If you are not, however, such a level of integration of a product that you are not using can be tedious and a waste of resources.
