Microsoft officially announced Windows 11 in June and this new operating system brings a lot of improvements for everyone. Windows 11 is currently available for beta testing in the Windows Insider program, and a new statement from the company suggests the new operating system is already popular.
Satya Nadella describes Windows 11 as the “start of a Windows revolution†and Microsoft wants Windows 11 to target everyone. During a call with analysts after the release of the fourth quarter of fiscal 21 results, CEO Satya Nadella explained that Microsoft wants to “reinvent everything” in the operating system with Windows 11.
Additionally, Nadella revealed that Windows 11 is still slated to launch in the fall of this year. Of course, no details were provided, but it’s pretty clear that Windows 11 will start rolling out to select devices in 2021 and a wider rollout is slated for early 2022 for devices that meet the minimum requirements.
Windows 11 preview builds have been around since the last week of June and have had four cumulative preview updates since then. Windows 11 is preview software right now and there are actually stacks of issues, but more and more users are trying out the early versions.
During the call for results, Nadella discussed the early success of Windows 11. According to Microsoft, Windows 11 is already popular and pre-versions have been downloaded more than any other version of Windows. It shows that people are excited about Windows 11 and that Microsoft’s marketing efforts are paying off.
“More people downloaded our early versions than any Windows version or update in the history of our Insider Program. And, with our OEM ecosystem, we’re excited to bring Windows 11 to new PCs starting this holiday, â€Nadella said during a call with stakeholders.
No details were provided, but a new report from third-party company AdDuplex also suggests that Windows 11 is already running on almost 1% of the PCs surveyed. A total of approximately 60,000 PCs were queried and it is based on data collected from 5,000 apps that use AdDuplex SDK v2 or higher, an ad network for Windows Store apps.
Windows 11 is coming later this year
As we pointed out at the start, Microsoft has once again declared that its next operating system will be available during the holiday season. There are plenty of clues to suggest that Windows 11 will start rolling out in October, but anyone can guess when that will happen in October.
Windows 11 is currently available in beta form for Windows Insider program testers, and stable preview builds with fewer known issues will be released in the coming weeks.
Microsoft also plans to release Multimedia Installation Files (ISO) in the near future.
