Microsoft Windows Photos app shows yellow tint and bad margin / border

0

Microsoft Windows 10 is the most popular version of Windows across the world. It has its own app store and preinstalled apps like Microsoft Photos.

While Microsoft Photos is a fairly handy tool for viewing and editing images at a basic level, it does have some issues.

According to several reports, users of the Microsoft Photos app don’t really like the way it previews images and options.

It seems that users don’t really like the margin / border that appears for the image in the Microsoft Photos app.

While this could be a UI issue and more of a feedback than a problem, there is no acknowledgment or workaround.

Exactly! Now there is even more padding between the photo and the window edges since the last update. What is happening here?!

However, another issue that seems to be related to the Windows system or the Photos app itself seems to spoil the experience for some.

There appears to be a yellow tint in images when viewed through the Microsoft Photos app. Additionally, this yellow tint issue is not local to Microsoft Photos, but also affects the legacy Windows Image Viewer.

This annoys Windows users as the Photos app and Legacy Image Viewer are some of the most commonly used photo viewers.

I’m having some issues with the default Windows 10 photo / picture viewer. When I open an image the app loads that image but adds some yellowish tint to it as well as some sort of downgrade in resolution. It’s weird because the moment I open the image I can see it correctly but, again, a moment later the described problem appears and stays that way.

However, there is a Workaround where recalibrating the screen in Windows 10 may fix the yellow tint issue.

To do this, go to the Advanced tab under the color management settings and select the Calibrate display option.

While it’s not clear if this workaround fixes the yellow tint issue on a generic level, it certainly seems to have done the trick for the user who posted it.

Hopefully Microsoft will take a closer look at these issues and release an improvement update for the Photos app in the future.

That said, we will let you know with more details if or when new developments occur on the subject.
