Microsoft: Windows 11 Start menu comes from insider comments

Every once in a while, Microsoft does something that completely annoys users and is also confusing. It’s a tradition that dates back decades and usually involves the company often making things worse. For Windows 11, the new Start Menu was a controversial implementation and now Microsoft says it’s Windows Insiders’ fault.

In Windows 11, the Start menu is located in the center of the taskbar instead of the left side where it always was on previous generations of Windows. While not the WTF levels of Windows 8 Metro, the new Start menu location hasn’t gone down very well with long-time Windows users.

Of course, most people got over it and just got used to the new position of the Start button. Almost a year after the first introduction of Windows 11, Microsoft now explains the reason for the creation of the new Start menu. As Windows Latest reports, Microsoft is reaching out to Insiders across Dev, Beta, and Release channels to let them know that Win11’s Start button is there because of them.

It was you all along

In corporate marketing parlance, Microsoft basically says “we’re moving the Start menu to the center based on your feedback.”

So insiders themselves are to blame for the controversial Start button placement. To rub salt in the self-inflicted wound, these users can watch a video from Microsoft where the company explains — again in corporate marketing parlance — how innovative and fresh the new Start stance is.

By the way, this video was first posted a year ago, but Microsoft is offering a little refresher.

So the next time you want to complain about the Windows 11 Start button, Microsoft would rather you direct your anger at yourself.

Tip of the day: When Windows 10 or Windows 11 encounters problems, it is not uncommon to experience boot problems. Corrupt Windows files, incorrect system configuration, driver failure, or registry changes can all cause this problem.

Using Windows Startup Repair can fix startup problems caused by the most common problems. While it may seem like all is lost when you experience startup issues, it’s important to try a Windows startup repair so you can at least narrow down the source of the problem. If that doesn’t work, you may need to reinstall the operating system or test your hardware.
