After being briefly teased during the official Windows 11 announcement, the Disney+ app is now in the Microsoft Store. Although the app was first introduced in a Windows 11 announcement video, it will also work on Windows 10.

Disney+ is a popular streaming service with a wide array of media, including Disney classics, Marvel content, and Star Wars movies and TV shows. Depending on your region, it also contains content from Star+. It’s now a little easier to watch this content on Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs.

Before the Disney+ app launched in the Microsoft Store, you could install Disney+ as a Progressive Web App. It’s still an option, but some people will find it easier to download an app from the Microsoft Store.

Disney+ is also the first app to take advantage of a new Microsoft Store feature that displays a “Stream on Disney+” button when you search for content in the store. Our editor covers this in more detail in his article on the new Microsoft Store.

Adding Disney+ to the Microsoft Store is a win for the Windows maker. Microsoft has shown renewed interest in app development and integrating apps into the Microsoft Store. Zoom, OBS Studio, and Canva recently arrived in the Microsoft Store, as did Visual Studio Code.

At the Windows 11 unveiling, Microsoft’s Panos Panay made a point of saying, “Oh, that’s cool. I love seeing Disney+ in the store.”

A home for all things Disney

Disney+ offers a wide range of movies and TV shows from Disney, Star Wars, National Geographic, Marvel, Disney Channel, and Fox. You can now download the Disney+ app through the Microsoft Store. The app itself is free, but you need a subscription to watch the content.
